If you prefer not to email a professor or grad student directly for a position in a lab, try these routes. Undergraduate research is a really awesome way to get a glimpse of the cutting edge of SCIENCE, so if you're interested, be sure to check them out!
EUREKA
Try looking at EUREKA, a UT Database listing research opportunities with a veritable multitude of UT Faculty. Alternatively, you can check out the CNS Website or AccessUT (a bit more job/internship-oriented) to learn more about the variety of ways you can get involved.
GURU
Interested in BME research? Try putting your information up here! If a grad student likes what they see, they'll contact you.
Patrick Killion
Another option is emailing research coordinator Patrick Killion to have him match you up with a lab that he thinks will be right for you. If you send him the following information, he can help you find a position on-campus:
SURGe is a group dedicated to helping undergraduate students get involved in research. They've got speakers, lab tours, workshops, and resources galore. Check out their Friday meetings for pizza and pearls of wisdom from your professors and fellow students.

Longhorn EMS
Want to take a more hands-on approach to getting to the know medical field? EMT certification is an intense and rewarding way to familiarize yourself with some of the things medical professionals face on a day-to-day basis as a student. Each semester, Longhorn EMS (LEMS), a branch of the student government, invites LHSEMS to the UT campus to conduct EMT certification classes. Be aware, the hours are long, and classes cost a pretty penny, but lots of students come away with skills and experiences well worth the effort.
